Your Mount Meru itinerary
Momella Gate to Miriakamba
After hotel collection and a 45-minute drive to Arusha National Park, complete formalities and continue to Momella Gate. Hike with an armed ranger through open areas and acacia forest, with possible giraffe and buffalo sightings, before reaching Miriakamba Hut.
Elephant Back and Saddle Hut
Follow a steep track with wooden steps through cooler forest and open bushland. Stop at Mgongo wa Tembo, or Elephant Back, before continuing to Saddle Hut. An optional Little Meru side trip may be possible in the afternoon.
Summit Day
Leave around 02:00 by torchlight toward Rhino Point and the north ridge. The route becomes more challenging with occasional light climbing before reaching the summit area, then descending to Saddle Hut for rest and onward to Miriakamba Hut.
Northern Route Descent
After breakfast, descend by the Northern Route to Momella Gate. The descent usually takes 2 to 3 hours, with possible sightings of elephants, buffalo, giraffes, and black-and-white colobus monkeys, then transfer back to Arusha.
